NCAA Region Rankings (Feb. 19)

INDIANAPOLIS
– The Findlay men’s basketball program was ranked 10th Midwest Region in the first series of ratings published by the NCAA on Wednesday.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference is competing for NCAA Championship bids along with the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Each conference receives one automatic qualifying berth and five at-large selections will be made by the national committee through the Midwest Region rankings.

Findlay is currently 18-6 on a six-game win streak entering the final stretch of the regular season. The Oilers have some tough matchups remaining, including a road visit at Lake Erie tonight with Cedarville and Hillsdale looming ahead.

All three of those opponents are most likely going to make the conference tournament bracket in March.

Through 15 games in the league schedule, Findlay is leading the 12-team men’s standings with a point rating of 4.27. The Oilers have scored 6.5 points for a home win vs. Cedarville and 6 points for a road victory at Kentucky Wesleyan.

The Great Midwest has one team in the Midwest Region rankings; Walsh was ranked No. 22 in the NABC Coaches Poll on Monday prior to falling against rival Malone.

UIndy, Truman State and Bellarmine, all from the GLVC, are currently 1-3 in the Midwest Region rankings. Ferris State and Grand Valley State, both from the GLIAC, round out the top five.

Eight teams from the men’s hoops standings are vying to make the postseason and the Great Midwest Championship tournament.

All tournament seeding will be based off of the final point rating system scoring. Only the winning percentage from the conference standings will be used to determine the Great Midwest regular season champion. In the event of a tie, co-champions would be declared.
