Findlay Moves Into NABC National Rankings at No. 24

INDIANAPOLIS
– After being in the receiving votes category, Great Midwest Athletic Conference preseason coaches favorite Findlay is ranked No. 24 in the first National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) after week one of the regular season.
 
The Oilers (1-0, 1-0) defeated Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday to start the season. UF’s next game will be at home on Friday afternoon against Tiffin.
 
Findlay was previously with Walsh, the league’s defending tournament champion, among a handful of teams earning votes in the NABC Preseason Poll. Eight teams ranked above the Oilers have not yet made their season debut.
 
Four players scored in double-digits for Findlay in Thursday’s win, including senior point guard Tommy Schmock with 17. Joey Edmonds added 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Anthony Masterlasco had 13 points and Ethan Linder contributed 10.
 
Findlay tied for the conference regular season title and served as host for the final four of the Great Midwest Championship tournament.
 
Also this week, the Division II Administrative Committee also announced a reduction in the tournament field with the bracket being reduced from 64 teams down to 48.
