INDIANAPOLIS – Hillsdale and Findlay received the first honors of the new calendar year as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Basketball Players of the Week were announced on Monday afternoon by the league.
The conference schedule resumed in the first week of 2020 as teams are battling for position in the new point rating system implemented for both standings.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

The Chargers have reeled off four straight wins to start the league schedule and are sitting comfortably at the top of the point rating system with a 4.63 total.
Hillsdale picked up five points in its lone matchup of the week vs. Lake Erie as Cartier helped propel his team to victory, a 12-point margin.
Cartier and his 6-8 frame was dominant in this one as he tallied a game-high 28 points on 10-of-12 shooting. The redshirt freshman also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked a pair of shots.
He made eight of his 10 attempts at the free throw line.
Cartier is already the league leader in field goal percentage and is now shooting over 66 percent from the floor on 110 attempts this season. With 73 makes, he is the only qualified player in the league north of 60 percent.
Cartier is ranked eighth nationally in the category among all Division II players.
Cartier is now averaging close to 15 points per game and just under six rebounds in 13 contests for the 8-5 Chargers.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

Currently fifth in the point rating system, the Oilers added eight points to their season total following home wins against Lake Erie and Ursuline over the past week.
Kin played a major factor in Findlay’s two league victories as she averaged 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and a pair of steals in both games. She also made over 64 percent of her tries from the floor on all shot attempts.
Kin scored a team best 21 points and was 8-for-13 from the field as the Oilers toppled the Storm by eight points. She also collected three steals and pulled down six rebounds in 29 minutes.
Kin was overpowering in the matchup against Ursuline on Saturday as she carved out 24 points and was again efficient on her shots, missing just four of her 12 taken.
Kin is Findlay’s top weapon in the league’s third-highest scoring offense. She is now averaging 14.7 points per game while shooting 55 percent from the field.
Kin is also shooting 82 percent at the charity stripe and is one of the league’s best in rebounds (7.23 per game).
