INDIANAPOLIS – Respective sophomores from Tiffin and Hillsdale each claimed a share of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards on Monday.
The first official USTFCCA team national rankings are scheduled to be released on Tuesday, Jan. 28.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

McGill was on the radar for athlete of the week honors after her performance at the Tiffin Dragon Open. She shaved off precious time in her latest effort at the SVSU-hosted “Jet’s Pizza” Invitational.
McGill turned in a pair of first-place finishes, a prelim victory and a runner-up effort while checking into the top 10 of the conference record books.
First, McGill is now No. 3 in the 60-meter dash after racing to a 7.57 and finishing second to only teammate Rajiah Andrews, who is the new No. 2 following a 7.52.
She cut a full tenth of a second off from her preliminary time of 7.67. McGill crossed the line first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.34.
McGill then did her part as a member of the Dragons’ winning 4x400 relay group and their time of 3:58.88.

Centralia, IL (Centralia HS)
Maines had a conference best effort in the weight throw for the current season as she finished second at the Hillsdale Conference Crossover in the weight throw.
The sophomore provisionally qualified for nationals with her distance of 17.32m and officially made the conference top 10 list in the record books.
Maines would also finish third in the shot put competition. In both events, her top distance came on her final attempt.
Maines is ranked seventh nationally in Division II in shot put and No. 29 in the weight throw.
