Women’s Soccer Players of the Week (Sept. 30)

9.30.19

INDIANAPOLIS – Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week awards were announced for both sides of the ball to Findlay and Ohio Dominican on Monday afternoon.

Only two teams, Walsh and Findlay, have made it through the early part of the conference schedule without a league loss.

With the standings determined on winning percentage, the race for the coveted playoff bids appears to be wide open.

Offensive Player of the Week
Jayla Campbell
Findlay
Midfielder
Freshman
Chillicothe, OH (Unioto HS)

Campbell has earned conference offensive player of the week after she contributed to a share of four goals for Findlay in what was an undefeated week for the Oilers.

The Oilers defeated conference opponents Lake Erie and Ursuline on the road over the week to improve to 4-0-1 on the season and remain unbeaten.

Campbell played a starring role to help Findlay continue its season momentum.

Against Lake Erie, the freshman assisted on two of the three goals scored and later followed that up with two goals of her own in the win against Ursuline two days later.

Campbell had a total of 11 shots and five on target as she led the team in shots taken for the two games.

Findlay will look to remain unbeaten as it returns home to face Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene later this week.

Defensive Player of the Week
Cecilia Kuntz
Ohio Dominican
Goalkeeper
Freshman
Berlin, Germany (Dathe)

Another freshman was deserving of the defensive player of the week award as Kuntz had her name selected for the second time this season.

The Panthers won both of their games this week to move themselves above .500 for the season and only allowed one goal over the two games.

Kuntz made eight saves for the two games and was key in the 1-0 shutout win for the Panthers over Trevecca Nazarene.

Earlier in the week, ODU defeated Kentucky Wesleyan in Owensboro by a 4-1 score as the rookie was credited with five stops. She has two shutouts on the season and has logged almost 650 minutes in net.

Up next for Ohio Dominican is a matchup against Alderson Broaddus in conference play on Thursday.
