AVCA DII National Poll (Week 2)
INDIANAPOLIS – Hillsdale climbed five spots in the new American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Coaches Poll that was announced late Monday afternoon.
The Chargers secured four more wins at their own hosted tournament in the past week, beating Ashland, Northwood, Clarion and No. 16 Palm Beach Atlantic.
Hillsdale improved to 7-1 on the year and initially broke through the AVCA national rankings last week at No. 19.
This is the highest ranking in the national volleyball poll for the league since the sport’s inception in 2012. Findlay was ranked in the AVCA’s Top 25 twice during the 2018 campaign and once in 2017, both around 24 and 25.
HC swept Great Midwest Offensive / Defensive Players of the Week for matches ending on Sept. 15. Junior middle blocker Allyssa Van Wienen is now a Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week and two-time conference offensive player of the week.
Junior libero Taylor Wiese, a first team all-conference defensive specialist in 2018, returned to the starting lineup from an injury and averaged 5.4 digs in her first 2019 game action.
