Final Standings
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tiffin University was the highest ranked Great Midwest Athletic Conference member institution in the final announcement of the Division II Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup standings for 2018-19.
Tiffin remained idle at No. 25 from the previous rankings that were published on May 30. The final edition of the standings includes the postseason for the sport of baseball.
Tiffin finished with 477 points, racking up 50 more for the season total from the baseball program after finishing runner-up in one of two Midwest Regional pods at the NCAA DII Championship.
The conference champion Dragons surprised many as the No. 8 seed out in Ashland, taking down the top-seeded Eagles and Bellarmine in the regional. It was a remarkable showing for Tiffin as the institution would also go on to finish runner-up in its first try at the Great Midwest Presidents’ Cup.
The winner of the 2018-19 Presidents’ Cup was Findlay as the Oilers collected their prized hardware at the Spring Awards Banquet in Blue Ash, Ohio. Findlay was in the top 50 with the final placement at No. 42.
Walsh finished the year at No. 59 and Hillsdale wrapped up at No. 78. Cedarville and Ohio Valley were close to each other at No. 134 and No. 154, respectively.
Additional Great Midwest schools earning points in the Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup standings included Malone, Trevecca Nazarene, Kentucky Wesleyan and Alderson Broaddus.
Grand Valley State University finished on top of the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings with a cumulative total of 1,004 points for the 2018-19 academic year. UC San Diego was runner-up followed by West Texas A&M, Queens and UIndy.
The 2019-20 Learfield IMG College Directors’ Cup will begin in the fall with 13 Great Midwest schools looking to make an impact in the scoring.
