INDIANAPOLIS
– Ten student-athletes made up the 2018-19 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Golf All-Conference Team through a coaches vote.

Individual award winners were also selected by coaches following the conclusion of the NCAA Division II East Super Regional in Owensboro, Ky., hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan.

The top five finishers (and ties) were selected to the all-conference team from the Great Midwest Championship tournament in Lexington, Ky., while an additional four spots were open to the coaches voting.

Rounding out the all-conference team were Tiffin junior Alice Putoud, Tiffin freshman Amanda Johansson, Findlay sophomore Kristina Kniesly and Ohio Dominican junior Abby Swensen.

Repeating as Great Midwest Player of the Year was Findlay senior Makenzie Torres. Torres was tops in the conference as the league leader in scoring average for the second consecutive season.

Torres posted an average of 75.11 per 18 holes in 27 rounds counted throughout the season to date. She has seven top-10 finishes, including a pair of medalist-winning efforts.

Torres has also posted seven rounds of even par or better, including a 69 (-3) at the Great Midwest Fall Invitational for her best round of the season. Her winning percentage of .899 (790-89) also topped everyone in the conference against all opponents.

Earning the vote from the coaches as the top rookie was Tiffin’s Amanda Johansson, a three-time winner of conference player of the week accolades.

Johansson was second on the Dragons in team scoring average with a 78.50 mark through 26 rounds played. She helped Tiffin finish second at the conference tournament and narrowly missed advancing out of the NCAA East Super Regional.

Johansson had six top-10 finishes during the season, including two first-place performances for medalist honors.

Topping the list as the Great Midwest Coach of the Year was Findlay’s Dominic Guarnieri. Guarnieri’s program was ranked in the top 10 by the WGCA Coaches Poll and goes into national finals ranked 15th.

The Oilers have won back-to-back conference titles in the first two years with the league and have shattered the previous single-season scoring marks in the conference record books.
