INDIANAPOLIS – Tiffin and Hillsdale secured Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards for the fourth week of the season on Tuesday afternoon.
The conference outdoor meet will be conducted at Hillsdale in early May as student-athletes continue to try and qualify for nationals with provisional and automatic standards.

Andrews has displayed her talents in the sprints and jumps events during her sophomore season and was able to do so once again at the Walsh Invitational.
Andrews clocked a 14.14 time to provisionally qualify for nationals in the 100-meter hurdles, an event that has been featured prominently in the record books by former two-time national champ Janelle Perry (Ursuline).
At the Walsh Invitational, she also ran a leg of the first place 4x100-meter relay finish for the Dragons and also was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.29m (33’9.25”).
She is now tied for 20th in the 100 hurdles among all runners in Division II.

Carey, OH (Carey HS)
Newell came dangerously close to breaking a conference record set by a former Chargers program great, Rachael Tolsma, the hammer throw at the Hillsdale Invitational.
Newell, a fifth-year senior, had an attempt of 54.01m (177’2”), the best distance around the league this spring.
She now joins Walsh’s Malia Turley as provisional qualifiers from the Great Midwest in the hammer throw. Tolsma still holds the conference record at 54.61m set last year’s outdoor championship meet.
Newell is currently ranked 15th in Division II among all provisional hammer throw qualifiers. This was her first official event with a result in the outdoor season after competing in the indoor conference championship meet in the weight throw.
