TNU’s Collins Named Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Two-time Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week Mary Collins of Trevecca Nazarene was recognized at the national level for her impressive showing over the past week at the plate.
 
Collins, along with Southern Arkansas’ Elisa Favela, were named 2019 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II National Player and Pitcher of the Week honorees for games played Feb. 25-March 3.
 
Collins, who hails from Apison, Tenn., had a monstrous doubleheader against Lincoln Memorial. The senior catcher cranked four home runs, including three in game two of the Trojan’s sweep. In the nightcap, Collins launched a pair of grand slams and a solo shot which attributed to her single-game Great Midwest Conference-record nine RBI. 
 
She also broke a 3-3 deadlock in game one with a two-run shot giving her 11 RBI over two games. In three games last week, Collins hit .600 scored four runs and slugged 1.800.
 
She is the third player in conference history to receive NFCA National Players of the Week honors, joining Cedarville’s Brianne O’Dell and Trevecca Nazarene’s Haley Fagan, as previous honorees.
