Softball Players of the Week (March 19)

INDIANAPOLIS – The seal has been broken for the league schedule as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week were announced Tuesday afternoon. 
 
Trevecca Nazarene and Cedarville each recorded series sweeps as some teams also wrapped up the tail end of their respective spring break trips down in warmer weather before returning to campus.

Odom helped key the series-opening sweep for the Trojans from her leadoff spot against Kentucky Wesleyan. The Trojans collected their 12th and 13th wins of the year against a strong Panthers’ program in Nashville.
 
The Trevecca shortstop and reigning conference player of the year turned in another outstanding week hitting .625 (5-for-8) helping the Trojans to a pair of conference wins.
 
She doubled twice and homered, her first one of the spring, to help TNU to both wins. 
 
Odom drove in five runs this week, including a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to lift the Trojans over Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-1.
 
Odom is hitting .622 on the season, a league-leading number, and has had 17 multi-hit games in 19 played this season. 
 
Pitcher of the Week

Carr excelled once again in the circle for the Trojans, tossing a complete game and dealing eight strikeouts in a 2-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan.
 
Carr allowed a single run and just four hits and a walk in her seven innings of work. The right-handed pitcher improved to 6-2 on the season with the win and now owns a 2.12 earned run average with one save.
 
Carr recorded strikeouts to retire five of the first six batters she faced to begin conference play Saturday.
 
This is her second conference pitcher of the week award for the current season already.
