INDIANAPOLIS – Two student-athletes from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference were named to the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) Women’s Basketball All-Midwest Region Team.
A total of 10 selections were made with five on the first team and five on the second team between the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
Representing the league was Anna Hintz (Findlay – 1st Team) and Quionche “Sha” Carter (Walsh – 2nd Team).
The Great Midwest Player of the Year Hintz on the first-team ballot and is now in consideration for All-American recognition from the organization. Hintz was the league leader in both scoring (18.8 ppg), rebounding (8.8 rpg) and free throw percentage (.877), among qualified players.
She was also third in field goal percentage shooting over 50 percent from the floor on 388 shot attempts.
Hintz was also named a Google Cloud Academic All-District Team selection by CoSIDA during her wave of postseason award selections. She was a D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team pick in 2017-18.
Hintz was a three-time conference athlete of the week during her senior campaign as Findlay qualified for the conference tournament as the No. 4 seed in the bracket.
Carter was named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team after being a driving force for Walsh earning a share of the regular-season conference title and winning the tournament championship trophy.
The rookie was a first team all-conference pick by the league’s coaches and at 6-0 with the ability to put the ball on the floor, was a matchup nightmare for the opponents routinely around the Great Midwest.
Carter was second in the Great Midwest in scoring as a freshman at 16.9 ppg going into the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.
Like Hintz, she was also a three-time conference athlete of the week and was second in the league in field goal percentage only to her teammate Mayci Sales. Carter also averaged six rebounds and was among the top-10 players in steals.
