INDIANAPOLIS – Rated at No. 8 nationally for the third consecutive week, Findlay remains the highest ranked team from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the NCAA men’s basketball Midwest Region rankings.
The Oilers were idle in the second release, holding strong at No. 3 out of 10 teams ranked. Hillsdale moved up one spot to No. 8 after debuting at No. 9 a week ago.
The Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), are all included in the region rankings. Each conference receives one automatic qualifier spot to the NCAA Championship bracket with five at-large selections allotted to the highest ranked remaining teams.
Lewis supplanted Bellarmine for the No. 1 spot in this week’s ranking as the Flyers and Knights swapped out spots. After UF at No. 3 is Southern Indiana, Ashland, UIndy and Ferris State, in order.
Northern Michigan and Drury are ranked at No. 9 and 10, respectively.
Findlay has already secured at least a share of the regular-season title and has earned the No. 1 overall seed in the conference tournament that gets underway next week.
The Oilers have won nine straight entering the final weekend of the regular season with matchups at home in Croy Gymnasium against Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca Nazarene.
UF is currently 23-3 overall and 16-2 at the top of the conference standings.
Despite a loss to Ohio Dominican to move into a tie for third with Cedarville in the standings, Hillsdale moved up in the region rankings. The Chargers also conclude their regular-season schedule against KWC and TNU, both at home.
Hillsdale is currently 17-8 overall and 13-5 in league play.
