Softball Players of the Week (Feb. 25)

2.25.19

INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay and Cedarville both received respective selections for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week honors for the third week of the season on Monday.

Player of the Week
Salwa Al-Hajabed
Findlay
Infield
Senior
Maumee, OH (Maumee HS/Toledo)

On a neutral field, the Oilers bested three Midwest Region opponents, all three from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, in consecutive games.

Al-Hajabed helped stabilize the offensive effort by batting .500 against Missouri S&T, Illinois-Springfield and Lewis. She doubled and had three RBI with a run scored.

The Oilers were able to grind out the low-scoring contests in Rosemont, Ill., while also falling in a one-run game against Winona State.

UF improved its record to 3-3 overall on the spring while getting ready for a Spring Break trip down in Clermont, Fla.

The three regional wins could be pivotal as the Oilers move into the heart of the conference schedule and try to contend for a conference title.

Al-Hajabed is now hitting .400 on the year through five games played.

Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Arbogast
Cedarville
RHP
Senior
Cortland, OH (Lakeview HS)

Arbogast has played a starring role in the Yellow Jackets’ regular-season title run while helping the team earn the top seed in the conference tourney last year.

With Cedarville picked first in the preseason coaches poll this spring, the senior will be asked to provide more of the same in her final season as an ace.

Cedarville swept Quincy in a doubleheader to debut the 2019 season as Arbogast got the call in the circle for game.

The right tossed a two-hit complete game shutout in her first start, quieting Quincy’s offense with four strikeouts in a 2-0 Cedarville win.

Arbogast walked two and faced three batters over the minimum to record her first winning decision.
