INDIANAPOLIS – Tiffin junior running back and 2019 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year JaQuan Hardy (Westlake, Ohio) was among the nation’s elite as the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II All-American Team was released Tuesday.
Hardy was on the 11-man second team for the 2019 season as he tied the single season conference rushing record with exactly 1,554 yards.
The redshirt junior was named Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week three times as he helped guide Tiffin to the outright conference title and a bid to the NCAA Championship in Super Region 1.
Hardy averaged 7.62 yards per game, good for fifth in Division II. He played in 11 games and had 204 rushing attempts.
He also finished with 15 touchdowns a number that was tied for 11th nationally. Hardy was on the all-conference first team on the league’s highest scoring offense.
Hardy was the league leader in rushing with 141.3 yards per game and set a new single season conference best.
His longest run of the season was a 94-yard sprint against Walsh on Sept. 21, turning out to be another single game conference record for the Dragons’ RB.
His 1,554 yards was an identical match to the output produced by Findlay RB Daouda Syllla during the 2017 season as the Oilers also qualified for the NCAA Championship field. That number was ranked third in Division II this year.
Hardy also has a single season Great Midwest record for yards per carry with his 7.6 officially besting Findlay’s Brian Benson (7.4 in 2018).
Hardy is the third AFCA All-American to be represented on the Great Midwest in four full seasons. Former Hillsdale WR Trey Brock and former Findlay OL Andrew Alten were first team selections in 2018 and 2017, respectively.
