INDIANAPOLIS –
The playoffs are finally here and eight teams in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Championship tournament have the same goal in mind – to be the last one standing.

Of course, that is easier said than done, as an NCAA Championship automatic qualifying bid is on the line.

Three teams from the conference were slotted in the NCAA Midwest Region rankings as postseason performance is vital to securing any hopes of an at-large bid from the selection committee.

Findlay (13-1-1, 11-1-1) led the way at No. 2 while preseason coaches poll favorite Walsh (13-4-0, 10-2-0) made a move up to No. 5 and Cedarville (11-5-1, 10-2-1) is sitting at No. 10.

Findlay’s near-perfect fall includes the conference regular season championship and the top seed in this year’s eight-team bracket.

The Oilers are also ranked second in the Midwest Region for the second week in a row before they begin to chase a tournament trophy. UF will host a first-round game with additional quarterfinal sites at No. 2 Walsh, No. 3 Cedarville and No. 4 Ohio Dominican (10-6-1, 8-4-1).

Like the men’s field, several teams clinched their playoff bids on Tuesday, the end of the regular season. With teams locking in their bids based off of winning percentage, Ursuline was the first to keep its playoff streak alive for all eight possible consecutive seasons.

The Arrows were also joined by No. 7 Kentucky Wesleyan (8-9-0, 5-8-0) and No. 8 Malone (7-7-1, 4-7-1) in the postseason field. The No. 5 seed is Trevecca Nazarene (7-9-2, 7-6-0), one of the semifinalists from a year ago.

UF will host Malone at 2 p.m. ET while Walsh and KWC will lead things off from North Canton at noon. Cedarville and Ursuline take the pitch at 4:30 p.m. ET while ODU and TNU will battle it out under the lights at 7 p.m. ET.

The advancing quarterfinal winners will then compete on a neutral site in Dayton for the remainder of the conference tournament, where a champion will be crowned on the turf field of Roger Glass Stadium at Chaminade Julienne High School.

The semifinals and championship final will be conducted Thursday Nov. 14 & 16 while the championship banquet is taking place on Wednesday evening.
