INDIANAPOLIS –
Four quarterfinals on campus sites this Saturday will open up the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship as the tournament bracket was finalized from the end of the regular season.

Lake Erie (17-1-0, 13-1-0), now ranked fourth nationally in Division II by the United Soccer Coaches, carries the No. 1 seed into this year’s playoffs as the league’s regular season champion.

The Storm are 17-1-0 and ranked first in Super Region 3 as one four first-round hosts on Saturday, Nov. 9. Lake Erie will host along with No. 2 Ohio Valley (11-4-2, 9-3-2), No. 3 Cedarville (10-2-6, 7-2-5) and No. 4 Tiffin (8-4-5, 6-4-4).

The conference features five of the top 10 teams currently lined up in the NCAA Super Region 3 rankings (the second set of region rankings will be released Wednesday afternoon).

Tuesday’s final round of conference games to close out the regular season featured minimal movement in the standings, but several teams were able to celebrate and realize their postseason destiny.

Malone (4-6-6, 3-6-5), the No. 8 seed, and Alderson Broaddus (7-10-1, 5-8-1), the No. 7 seed, each made it in to the eight-team bracket as the mathematical points process played itself out. By virtue of a tie against Cedarville (common opponent site in descending order of standings), Malone held the tiebreaker against Ohio Dominican as both teams ended with 14 points in the league standings.

The Pioneers have played everyone tough down the stretch and have the draw vs. Lake Erie in the opening round. Malone and Lake Erie will face off at 7 p.m. ET from Painesville.

Alderson Broaddus will be matched up against Ohio Valley for the third time this season, this time on a turf surface at Marietta for a 2 p.m. ET start time.

Cedarville welcomes in Findlay as two regionally-ranked teams attempt to enhance their postseason resume. The start time is set for 7 p.m. ET with the Yellow Jackets also hosting a women’s postseason contest earlier in the afternoon.

Defending conference champion Tiffin will duel No. 5 seed Walsh in the quarterfinals. The Dragons and Cavaliers play for the right to advance with a 2 p.m. ET start time at the Paradiso Athletic Fields.

The advancing quarterfinal winners will then compete on a neutral site in Dayton for the remainder of the conference tournament, where a champion will be crowned on the turf field of Roger Glass Stadium at Chaminade Julienne High School.

The semifinals and championship final will be conducted Thursday Nov. 14 & 16 while the championship banquet is taking place on Wednesday evening.
