INDIANAPOLIS – Good things have come in sets of three for Hillsdale’s successful volleyball program since joining the Great Midwest Athletic Conference as a full member starting in the 2017 season.

Another third trio was realized on Monday night during the NCAA Selection Show as the Chargers were slotted with the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional that will be held at Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill.

Hillsdale also won the conference regular season championship for the third straight year and three-peated at the Great Midwest Championship tournament this past weekend on its home court.

The Chargers are now three-time NCAA Championship qualifiers and have moved into the top 10 of the American Volleyball Coaches Association national rankings for the first time this year.

Hillsdale is 26-3 and will carry a 10-match win streak into the first round of the Midwest Regional against No. 7 seed UIndy on Thursday, Dec. 5.

The Chargers received an automatic qualifying bid into the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional by virtue of winning the Great Midwest tourney. HC had also been ranked No. 2 for all four sets of Midwest Region rankings and was No. 11 in the last three AVCA nationa polls.

The selection committee officially released the NCAA tournament bracket with 64 teams, eight from each respective region in the country.

Eight eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five-set matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, Dec. 12-14, at the Auraria Event Center in Denver. Metropolitan State University of Denver will serve as the host. Competition at the finals site will be single-elimination; best three-of-five-set matches.
