Tiffin Climbs to No. 21 in National Rankings

11.12.19

INDIANAPOLIS – With at least a share of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship on the line in Week 11, Tiffin has made the move up in both the AFCA National Poll and the Super Region 1 rankings.

The Dragons moved up four spots in the national poll to No. 21 as they won their seventh straight game over the weekend.

Tiffin (8-1, 6-0) also moved from No. 9 to No. 8 in the regional rankings while Ohio Dominican remained idle for the third straight time at No. 10.

The regular season comes to a conclusion on Saturday as three teams have championship aspirations with Tiffin, Ohio Dominican and Findlay (7-3, 5-1) all with the potential to have one loss in the conference standings.

The road won’t be easy for any of these teams – Ohio Dominican visits defending conference champion Hillsdale and Tiffin and Findlay will battle it out at Donnell Stadium.

ODU (6-2, 5-1) has won four straight following a 49-10 victory against Lake Erie in Week 10, but it wasn’t enough to move the needle in the eyes of the national committee.

The possibility of co-league champions shared three ways still exists with an Ohio Dominican win and a Tiffin loss. If Tiffin wins, the Dragons run the table and become the fourth different league champion in as many years.

A Tiffin win would also most likely cement the program’s place in the NCAA Championship bracket for the postseason.

All bets are off if Findlay wins however, as the committee would most likely take a very close work at the Oilers’ body of work this season, including a potential head-to-head win in Week 11 vs. Tiffin.

Also at stake is the league’s first bowl game bid to the America’s Crossroads Bowl against a Great Lakes Valley Conference opponent in December that is still to be determined.
