INDIANAPOLIS – The preseason rankings for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Poll has been released with Findlay representing the Great Midwest Athletic Conference in the top 25 to start 2019-20.

The Oilers, also picked second in this year’s preseason coaches poll, start the year ranked 17th under the direction of two-time Great Midwest Coach of the Year Charlie Ernst.

The Oilers will look to build off of a successful season after advancing into the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional final as a No. 3 seed.

The Oilers finished the season 28-5 overall and return three of their five starters from last season.

Alex White, the Great Midwest Player of the Year, who averaged 18.7 ppg and 8.6 rebounds, has graduated. The Oilers second-leading scorer last season, Aaron Overhiser returns as a senior to lead the way in the paint for the Oilers.

Overhiser averaged 13 ppg and 6 rebounds as well as shooting just over 50 percent from the field and over 70 percent from the free throw line.

The Oilers only lost one game on the road and one game at home last season while also finishing 18-2 in conference play.

The Oilers welcome six freshmen this season and only have two seniors on the roster. Findlay has already faced the University of Toledo in exhibition and will face Bowling Green State University tonight in another Division I tilt.

A recent NCAA.com article from beat writer Wayne Cavadi also had Findlay thought of in high regard with a preseason No. 12 ranking.
