10.29.19

INDIANAPOLIS – Tiffin and Malone shared Great Midwest Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week awards as the young season continues.

Men’s Athlete of the Week
Nick De Robles
Tiffin
Junior
Quebec, Canada (Silverthorne HS)

De Robles won three different events at the G-MAC/MEC Championships in 2019, besting the field in the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 1,650 freestyle.

He was needed for all three event victories posted in a team win against Edinboro as the junior won the 1,000 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle.

De Robles finished the 1,000 yard freestyle race in 10:15.48, the 200 distance in 1:45.31 and the 500 freestyle in 4:47.94.

The Dragons were competing in their second meet of the season after opening the year against Wayne State.

Women’s Athlete of the Week
Denise Quentin
Malone
Junior
Schwerte, Germany (Friedrich-ehrens Gymnasium)

Quentin was another breakout performer as she was crowned champion twice at the G-MAC/MEC Championships in the 100 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay.

In Malone’s second event of the season, she helped her team defeat Oberlin with three different race wins.

Quentin won the 50 freestyle, the 100 breaststroke and the 500 freestyle.

Quentin’s time of 24.53 was very close to the NCAA B standard of 24.03 and she has plenty of season to try and bear down on that mark more.

She also would have finished second in the men’s heat at the meet – winning the 500 free by almost 31 seconds in 5:20.33
