INDIANAPOLIS – For the third straight week, Hillsdale has moved up in the ranks of the nation’s best from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll.
This time, the Chargers are ranked 16th nationally as the program prepares for the Midwest Region Crossover Volleyball Tournament in Indianapolis.
Hillsdale moved up from No. 17 and head coach Chris Gravel’s team was No. 18 just two weeks ago.
The Chargers are the top seed for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference going into the largest NCAA volleyball tournament of any kind in the country starting on Friday.
Hillsdale (14-2 overall) is back on a roll, winners of seven straight, while continuing to remain unbeaten in the Great Midwest standings at 5-0.
The Chargers are coming off a week where they swept Tiffin and Cedarville on the road. Hillsdale has three tough opponents scheduled this weekend at The Volleyball Academy facility lined up against No. 17 Rockhurst, Saginaw Valley State and No. 10 Lewis.
Still, it is a prime opportunity for Hillsdale to earn wins against regional competition and potentially even host the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional with a strong enough postseason resume.
The Chargers are looking to secure the conference regular-season title and tournament trophy for the third consecutive season. Hillsdale has served as host of the Great Midwest Championship for the past two seasons in Dawn Tibbetts Potter Arena.
Hillsdale has also enjoyed its share of the conference weekly awards, most recently sweeping offensive and defensive honors with OH Karoline Shelton and DS/L Taylor Wiese (her second of the season).
