INDIANAPOLIS – Lake Erie earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week recognition after taking on a pair of top-10 opponents prior to the league championship meet.
Great Midwest teams are getting ready to gather at Tiffin in the Heminger Center this weekend on Friday and Saturday for the inaugural championship.
The team winner will be determined on the overall record in the double round-robin format.

The nationally ranked Boggs (No. 11 at 157) beat both of his opponents from No. 3 Notre Dame (OH) and No. 4 Wheeling Jesuit as the Storm tuned up for the postseason.
Lake Erie’s upset bid against Wheeling Jesuit was just short in a 26-24 final. Boggs contributed three points to the Storm’s total with an 11-6 decision over Dylan Taylor.
Versus NDC, Boggs tangled with another ranked grappler in No. 9 Zach Kelly. The redshirt senior gave Lake Erie three points with a with a win in sudden victory.
Despite a tough loss to the Falcons, Boggs is now looking to reclaim All-American status at the NCAA Championships after redshirting in 2017-18.
This is Boggs’ second athlete of the week honor from the conference for the 2018-19 season.
