Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week (Jan. 29)

INDIANAPOLIS – The combined championship with the Mountain East Conference looms closer as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week honors were announced on Tuesday. 
 
Malone will once against serve as this year’s host for the second annual G-MAC/MEC Championships in Canton at the C.T. Branin Natatorium from Feb. 13-16. 
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Brice Dixon
Malone
Sophomore
Lebanon, OH (Lebanon HS)
 
Dixon helped Malone beat Notre Dame (OH) while competing as a member of four different winning relay teams over a two-day span. 
 
He also won the 100 IM while gearing up for the conference championships. His winning time in the 100 IM was 56.74. 
 
Dixon was a part of the 200 /400-yard medley relay and 200 / 400-yard freestyle relay while also finishing as runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke. 
 
Malone’s men beat NDC by a score of 88-67. This is Dixon’s second career conference weekly honor since winning in November of 2017. 
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week
Anika Ellingson
Hillsdale

Ellingson is ready to make a splash at the G-MAC/MEC Championships and looking to return to the NCAA Championships to cap off her impressive Hillsdale career. 
 
She continued to tune up for the combined conference meet with a strong showing over the weekend against Ohio Northern and Case Western in a triangular matchup. 
 
Ellingson won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.24 and the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.03. 
 
Ellingson finished runner-up in the 200-yard medley relay and placed third in the 200 IM. 
 
This is her second conference weekly honor of the 2018-19 and fourth of her career with the Chargers.
