Week 2 Notes | Great Midwest Records

INDIANAPOLIS
- A pair of top-20 matchups on the upcoming slate highlight the Great Midwest Athletic Conference football schedule for Week 2 kicking off on Saturday.

Four teams from the Great Midwest were able to check off their first box in the win columns last week with No. 25 Findlay, No. 23 Ohio Dominican, Hillsdale and Tiffin, with victories.

Points were still put up across the board around the league in the first week of competition but defenses shined as four different players had two interceptions apiece to stall opponent drives.

The new AFCA Top-25 Coaches Poll elevated Ohio Dominican (1-0, 0-0 Great Midwest) to No. 17 while Findlay (1-0, 1-0 Great Midwest) climbed to a tie for 19th with Ouachita Baptist.

Both teams from the league have plenty at stake going into their contests against GLIAC powerhouses No. 18 Ashland and No. 9 Ferris State.

Even though both games are not NCAA Super Region I meetings, it's a prime opportunity for ODU and UF to showcase its talent and make a statement against two teams from their previous league.

The lone conference game will pit Lake Erie against Malone at the Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton as the Storm or Pioneers will earn their first victory of the season.

Ohio Dominican is currently on an eight-game win streak dating back to 2017, the second-longest run to only defending national champion Texas A&M Commerce, which has strung together 11 straight wins.

The Panthers validated their preseason national ranking from multiple outlets with a Week 1 victory over California (PA). ODU will remain in the confines of Columbus against an Ashland program that dropped to reigning top Super Region 1 seed Indiana (PA) last weekend, 21-17.

Findlay is on the road at Ferris State taking on the Bulldogs after routing Kentucky Wesleyan in a Week 1 conference game. The Oilers set a single-game conference record for total offense and rolled up 69 points, one shy of its league-best total put up against Alderson Broaddus in 2017.

Findlay faced Ferris State in Week 1 last year, falling by a 48-27 score. FSU downed East Stroudsburg last weekend by a 49-17 final score.

In other action against GLIAC opponents, Hillsdale (1-0, 0-0 Great Midwest) heads to Michigan Tech and Walsh (0-1, 0-0 Great Midwest) hosts Saginaw Valley State.

Tiffin (1-0, 0-0 Great Midwest) announced its arrival to the league with 40-point blitz against Northwood as quarterback Nick Watson placed his name in the record books for a number of different passing categories. The Dragons draw Mercyhurst from Super Region I, Hillsdale's Week 1 foe.

Kentucky Wesleyan (0-1, 0-1 Great Midwest) is on the road against GLVC opponent Quincy while Alderson Broaddus (0-1, 0-0 Great Midwest) welcomes in Bowie State.
