Ohio Valley Reaches New Heights at No. 3 in United Soccer Coaches Poll

INDIANAPOLIS – Ohio Valley men’s soccer is the highest ranked program in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history following a new release of United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll on Tuesday.

OVU, which began the season ranked at No. 7 in the preseason national rankings, climbed up to the No. 3 position following two shutout victories. Only Midwestern State at No. 2 and top-ranked Lynn separate the Fighting Scots from the top spot in the country.

The Fighting Scots were also the preseason coaches poll favorite after reeling off regular season and tournament titles a year ago.

OVU advanced into the final 16 teams remaining of the NCAA Championship bracket by playing in the Midwest Regional final.

Entering the league schedule, the Fighting Scots (2-0-0, 0-0-0 Great Midwest) are coming off wins in the first week of competition against former No. 19 Maryville and Illinois Springfield.

Ohio Valley scored six goals combined in the two contests with newcomer forward Jorge Pradillos leading the charge with three goals and six points in the young season.

The Fighting Scots moved up four spots with their Great Midwest opener at home against Alderson Broaddus being played this afternoon.
