Ohio Valley Retains Top-10 National Ranking

INDIANAPOLIS ­– Despite being handed its first loss of the season, Ohio Valley is still firmly planted in the top 10 at seventh from the new United Soccer Coaches Poll following the fourth week of the regular season.
 
The Fighting Scots are now 8-1-0 and 4-1-0 in league play after being ranked at No. 2 for consecutive weeks, the highest ranking for a Great Midwest program in conference history.
 
Ohio Valley’s streak of attempting 16 consecutive wins in the conference schedule was snapped by Trevecca over the past week in a 1-0 finish. OVU and Trevecca will meet again later this week in Nashville.
 
OVU still scored a pair of victories in Week 4, taking down Salem and using double overtime to sink Lake Erie.
 
Alderson Broaddus currently leads the Great Midwest men’s soccer standings with 13 and four teams are tied for second with 12 points including OVU, TNU, Tiffin and Ohio Dominican.
 
Six teams will qualify for the postseason and the Great Midwest Championship bracket.
