INDIANAPOLIS - For the third week of the season, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week were released on Monday afternoon.

The year continued into week three as teams are about one-third of the way into the regular season before the playoff field is set.

Ohio Dominican and Cedarville each have 12 points in the conference standings while Findlay and Trevecca, after battling to a double-overtime standstill, have 11 and 10, respectively in the top four.

Ohio Valley has been winners in all three of its league matchups while Walsh and Kentucky Wesleyan each have earned seven points.

Four schools remain undefeated (including ties) in conference play through the conclusion of week three. Ohio Dominican is currently 4-0-0, with Findlay (3-0-2), Trevecca (3-0-1) and Ohio Valley (3-0) close behind for calculating the total points.

Offensive Player of the Week
Mari Silvestri
Ohio Dominican
Midfield/Forward
Freshman
Solon, OH (Solon)

The ODU freshman Silvestri is making an impact for the Panthers (5-1, 4-0 G-MAC), starting all six games thus far this season and scoring three goals on 18 shots.

Two of Silvestri's goals on the season came this past week, one in the 3-2 overtime victory at Ursuline and the other in the Panthers’ 4-0 win over Lake Erie.

During the match on Thursday at Ursuline, Silvestri netted a rebound off of Samantha Buck's shot to open the scoring in just the third minute of play. Silvestri added three more shots during her 63 minutes on the field.

Silvestri also contributed on Saturday during 49 minutes of play in the Panthers shutout at Lake Erie. Silvestri beat a defender and continued down the field to score the team's second goal on the day in the 24th minute. In the 61st minute, Silvestri assisted Taylor Rankin to add to the team score.

Silvestri is an emerging impact player for a program that was picked second in the preseason coaches poll and won an NCAA Tournament first-round game in 2017.

Defensive Player of the Week
Allison Garlock
Cedarville
Goalkeeper
Junior
Lebanon, OH (Lebanon)

Coming off of an impressive 2017 season with 19 starts that culminated in leading the Great Midwest with eight shutouts, Garlock is back in business as one of the league’s best keepers.

Garlock has recorded shutouts in all three of her appearances so far, doing her part to help push the Yellow Jackets in a first-place tie in the league standings with Ohio Dominican.

Two of Garlock's shutouts happened this past week with a 4-0 win over Lake Erie on Thursday and a 1-0 triumph against Ursuline over the weekend.

Garlock faced seven shots this week, thanks to help from her entire Yellow Jacket defensive unit. The Yellow Jacket offense also assisted by tallying a combined score of 5-0 over their opponents this week.

Garlock has played in three of Cedarville’s six games on the season after missing games against Tiffin, Lewis and Walsh, with injuries.
