INDIANAPOLIS – The first selections of the fall from the East and West divisions for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week awards were announced on Monday afternoon.
Thirteen of the league’s 14 schools debuted since Thursday with 41 matches spread out through the first weekend of the regular season, the majority of which were tournament contests on neutral floors.
The Great Midwest didn’t shy away from taking on some of the nation’s best as Hillsdale faced No. 1 defending national champ Concordia St. Paul, No. 21 Ferris State and beat No. 17 Winona State. Findlay took No. 3 Minnesota Duluth to five sets and beat No. 25 Flagler. Also, Tiffin faced No. 9 Northern State in tourney action out in Portland, Ore.
Representing the East, Lake Erie took on No. 13 Gannon, with the defending divisional champ Storm winning the opening set before eventually falling in four games.

Adams, a two-time all-conference selection since the Pioneers joined the Great Midwest, earned her third career weekly honor as Malone began its season at Ashland University.
The Pioneers secured a Midwest Region win with a sweep against Bellarmine and defeated Nova Southeastern out of the Sunshine State Conference on Saturday.
Adams averaged 3.29 kills, 1.36 digs and 1.07 blocks per set while hitting .373 over four matches and 14 sets played. She hit close to .500 against Nova Southeastern and Shippensburg, recording 12 kills in each contest on a combined 42 attack attempts.
She also had nine kills and nine digs in the win against Bellarmine and produced nine blocks against Nova Southeastern. In the effort against Ashland, Adams came through with a season-high 13 kills while still hitting over .300.

Kin collected her second career conference weekly honor as the Oilers came out swinging in Florida with wins against Saint Leo, Erskine and tourney host No. 25 Flagler.
The second-team all-conference middle was among the statistical league leaders regardless of division in kills (3.15), hitting percentage (.421) and blocks (1.23). She also served up five aces and had nine digs.
Findlay’s preseason was highlighted with an impressive exhibition win in four sets over Division I Kent State.
The Oilers continued the momentum into the regular season, their bid for a perfect weekend in St. Augustine short by the slimmest of margins to No. 3 Minnesota Duluth.
Kin racked up 14 kills on just 24 swings for a hitting percentage of .500 against Saint Leo. She scored 11 kills and had seven blocks against Minnesota Duluth and added double-digit kill totals against Flagler with 10.
