Official CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Nine student-athletes from Findlay and one from Tiffin were named 2017-18 College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-Americans to represent the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
The CSCAA selected a record 1,069 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team. The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The selections were drawn from 181 colleges and universities across all NCAA divisions.
In addition to the 1,069 first-team selections, 1,137 students were named as Honorable Mention selections. These student-athletes have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.
In total, 289 teams placed at least one individual on the First or Second teams.
Findlay's Emma Barnes, Hanna Cederholm, Katy Kouvaris, Kathryn Samuelson, Julia Snell, and Amanda Stiegal, were first-team selections. Lauren Blanchard, Hannah May and Sydney Zimdars, were honorable mention honorees.
Barnes was the lone senior from the list while seven sophomore and a pair of juniors were all represented.
In 2017-18, Tiffin finished competition in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as sophomore Jonah Sumfleth earned his CSCAA academic award.
