Tiffin University Starts Great Midwest Membership

7.2.18

INDIANAPOLIS – Effective Sunday, July 1, Tiffin University officially became a full-member institution in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference with the 2018-19 academic year approaching.

The Great Midwest membership is currently at 14 schools with schools located in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.

The 2017-18 academic year marked the first season of competition for Findlay, Hillsdale, Lake Erie, Ohio Dominican and Walsh while Malone joined the conference in 2016-17.

Tiffin is joining the Great Midwest after completing membership since 2008 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). The Dragons currently feature sport sponsorship in all 23 of the league’s anticipated 2018-19 conference championship offerings, including wrestling.

Tiffin was just outside of the top 50 in the 2017-18 Learfield Directors’ Cup standings at 53rd overall with 332.5 points.

The Dragons did all of their scoring over the course of the winter and spring sports campaign. The Dragons tallied 161.5 points during the winter season, and 171 points during the spring season.

As Tiffin enters a new athletic conference, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Dragons' 332.5 points would have placed 2nd, trailing only the University of Findlay.
