INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of reputable national publications, Street & Smith’s and Lindy’s, put Great Midwest Athletic Conference institutions on the radar with their annual preseason rankings in Division II.
Findlay and Hillsdale both completed their first season in the Great Midwest last fall. The Oilers check in at No. 21 in the Street & Smith’s preseason poll while the Chargers start the new year at No. 24 in the Lindy’s Sports rankings.
The Great Midwest is gearing up for the 2018 campaign, which will feature nine schools in the standings, including first-year member Tiffin.
Ohio Dominican earned the league’s championship trophy in 2017 with an overall record of 7-3 and a perfect 7-0 run through the conference schedule, including a head-to-head win over Findlay.
At 10-3, the Oilers went on to qualify for the NCAA Championship bracket and proceeded to eliminate No. 2 seed Shepherd in the opening round.
Hillsdale finished the season on a four-game win streak and retain a number of key starters on both sides of the ball from last year’s 7-4 team. The Chargers went 5-2 in league play.
With Findlay and Hillsdale both receiving preseason national attention, the Great Midwest’s annual preseason coaches poll will be that much more intriguing as an early favorite is determined.
