INDIANAPOLIS – More provisional marks and records were set as Cedarville and Findlay earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards.

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Trent Classen
Cedarville
Junior
Lexington, KY (Warrensburg HS)

For the second time this outdoor season, Cedarville takes home the track portion of the conference athlete of the week selections.

This time it comes from junior Trent Classen after Ethan Gatchell previous earned honors.

Classen only ran in one event at the Jesse Owens Track Classic on Saturday, but his performance in the 3K steeplechase earned him this week’s honors. He put up the 20th-best time in Division II this season with a provisional mark of 9:07.29.

That time was the best in the event this season for the Great Midwest. He took home first place at the invitational among Division I competition.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Trey Everett
Findlay
Senior
Sidney, OH (Fairlawn HS/Bluffton University)

Everett excelled in Columbus at the Jesse Owens Track Classic and he also did not disappoint at a meet filled with Division I competition. He competed in two events and placed in the top five in both.

Everett, already the current conference record holder, finished fifth in the long jump with a distance of 6.73m. He held his own against a field of strong competitors.

He competed against Ohio State’s Zack Bazile, who finished fourth at the Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships in the event.

The senior from Findlay also competed in the high jump for the first time this outdoor season and placed second.

His jump of 2.03m set a new conference record in the event. This comes after Everett won the high jump competition at the Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Championship and was named the Field Athlete of the Meet.
