INDIANAPOLIS – Red-hot streaks from Ohio Dominican and Cedarville resulted in Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week honors as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Ohio Dominican is winners of 16 consecutive games and the Panthers haven’t lost since March 23 against Cedarville. Those Yellow Jackets have strung together seven straight victories and Cedarville/ODU remain tied for second in the current softball standings.
Those impressive streaks aren’t quite enough yet to catch Findlay at the top as the Oilers try to keep their torrid pace at 11-1 in league play.
Player of the Week
Taylor Farmer
Ohio Dominican
First Base/Pitcher
Sophomore
Mt. Blanchard, OH (Riverdale HS)
No matter how it’s broken down, Farmer was a tough out in 25 plate appearances as Ohio Dominican put together a perfect 8-0 week against four different opponents. Included in those victories was an impressive doubleheader sweep against No. 15 UIndy, a key Midwest Region opponent.
Farmer hit for contact, she hit for power and average, with extra-base knocks coming in bunches to help the Panthers’ offense remain dangerous.
The sophomore corner infielder mashed three home runs, doubled and tripled while hitting almost .500 at the dish with a 12-for-25 line. She also scored eight times and had six RBI batting in the middle of the order.
Farmer has a current hit streak of 12 consecutive games and at least one base hit in all eight contests last week.
She deposited pitches over the fence against Alderson Broaddus, the nationally-ranked Greyhounds and Trevecca in the series finale.
Farmer was 2-for-2 with three RBI and a homer vs. the Trojans. She had two-hit games in both contests against Kentucky Wesleyan and also against AB.
Farmer increased her batting average on the season to .354 in 41 games played and started. She ranks among the top-10 league leaders in hits and runs scored.

Troy, OH (Covington HS)
It was just one year ago the Yellow Jackets were entering the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed and the program is showing no signs of slowing down midseason with its current momentum.
Cedarville went 4-0 against the defending tourney champs Kentucky Wesleyan and traditional power Trevecca over the past week as Arbogast dealt to the tune of three winning decisions.
The tough righty compiled a tiny 0.46 ERA spanning three appearances, including a pair of starts.
Arbogast pitched 15.1 innings, including 1.1 in a perfect relief outing vs. Malone and going the distance against KWC and TNU.
Arbogast recorded a three-hit shutout vs. the Trojans in a 3-0 Cedarville win. She struck out three, walked two and used 104 pitches for the complete-game victory.
She was just as tough to solve against KWC in a four-hit complete game effort. She fanned four and gave up just one run on four hits.
Arbogast improved to 8-5 on the spring with a 1.54 ERA. She has 14 starts under her belt and has logged five shutouts in just over 86 innings pitched.
