INDIANAPOLIS – Between the D2 Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCCA) and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference student-athletes earned several postseason honors as the 2017-18 season came to a close.

The Great Midwest celebrated three teams in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional. In their first year with the league, No. 3 seed Findlay, No. 5 seed Hillsdale and No. 8 seed Ohio Dominican, all made the field of 64 for DII March Madness.

Findlay defeated Drury and Bellarmine on its way to the round of 16 in the Midwest Regional final against Ferris State in Big Rapids, Mich. The Oilers’ senior duo of Taren Sullivan and Martyce Kimbrough were each recognized for their respective seasons on the court.

Additionally, talented Walsh sophomore swingman Chandler Vaudrin earned regional honors as he emerged as one of the best players with his all-around ability.

Sullivan, Kimbrough and Vaudrin, were all selected by the league’s coaches to the Great Midwest All-Conference Team. Sullivan earned Great Midwest Player of the Year honors.

Sullivan made the All-American and Midwest Region Team lists from both the D2CCA and the NABC. He was a Division II All-America selection by the NABC and an Honorable Mention All-America pick by the D2CCA.

A total of 16 student-athletes from around the country were honored on the NABC DII All-America Team. Sullivan also made the All-Midwest Region First Team list from both organizations.

The senior averaged 17.2 points and six rebounds per game while shooting almost 53 percent from the field in his final season.

Sullivan’s partner in crime, Kimbrough, was an All-Midwest Region Second Team honoree from both organizations. He averaged 17.7 points per game while shooting over 44 percent on his field goal attempts.

The sharpshooter was also top 10 in the conference in three-point field goal percentage and he drained 104 treys, a new single-season conference record.

Vaudrin averaged 15.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 7.5 assists per game, while recording four triple-doubles in just his second season on the college scene. He made an instant splash as the Cavaliers earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
