INDIANAPOLIS – Even with snow pummeling most of the surrounding area early in the season, the first Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week were announced on Wednesday.
A pair of conference records were broken on the men’s side as Davis & Elkins competed at the Washington & Lee Carnival and Kentucky Wesleyan debuted at the Margaret Simmons Invitational.
Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Sprints
Milton, WV (Cabell Midland HS)
Jarrell shattered the 400-meter dash and won the event in his outdoor debut, clocking a conference record breaking time of 49.01 in the process.
The sophomore is the first D&E track and field student-athlete to hold a share of a conference record since the program launched in 2016-17.
Jarrell clipped the previous record of 49.60 held by Cedarville’s Josiah Bernard back in April of 2015 at the G-MAC Championships.
Jarrell also ran part of the Senators’ 4x400-meter relay grouping that finished fifth with a time of 3:27.57.
At the Great Midwest Indoor Championships, he finished fourth as part of the distance medley relay unit and was seventh in the 400-meter run.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Adam Bouchard
Kentucky Wesleyan
Freshman
Jumps
Owensboro, KY (Daviess County HS)
Just like the indoor season, Bouchard set the pace for the conference to start outdoor competition with a new conference record in the high jump. He cleared two meters at the Margaret Simmons Invitational.
The previous conference record was held by Cedarville’s Joshua Woika at 1.95m set last season at the Walsh Invitational.
Recently, Bouchard was also named the Great Midwest Men’s Indoor Freshman of the Year as voted upon by the league’s coaches.
While winning the high jump competition, Bouchard also took second in the triple jump and the javelin throw.
