Softball Players of the Week (March 13)

INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca and Malone each received Great Midwest Athletic Conference Softball Players of the Week accolades as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Spring Break trips are wrapping up around the league as conference play starts in 10 days.
 
Player of the Week
Tana Whited
Trevecca

Whited sported a strong .526 batting average in five games while splitting time in the outfield and the hot corner defensively for the Trojans, who pace the Great Midwest standings at 12-7 overall.
 
Whited had at least one hit in contests against Barry, St. Cloud State, Minnesota Morohead, Pittsburgh-Johnstown and Nyack. She racked up 10 hits in 19 at-bats, scored seven times and recorded six RBI.
 
Whited also had four extra-base hits, including two homers, a pair of doubles and a triple.
 
She had a big game to start the week on Tuesday against Sunshine State Conference opponent Barry with a 3-for-4 game with four RBI and a home run. She also doubled and scored twice.
 
Whited followed that up two days later with a pair of multi-hit games against SCSU and MSUM, including her second homer of the week.
 
This is her first career weekly conference honor. Whited is now batting .377 on the season in all 17 games started. She currently leads the league with six home runs.

Roberts appeared in three games for the Pioneers as she collected her second career conference weekly pitching honor.  
 
She compiled a strong 0.88 ERA in 16 innings pitched as she recorded a pair of winning decision while facing Glenville State, Waldorf and Ohio Christian, in order.
 
Roberts tossed a complete-game two-hit shutout against Glenville State on Wednesday. She struck out six and walked just one as the Pioneers blanked GSC 5-0.
 
She came on in relief against Waldorf with a pair of scoreless frames and finished off the week with another complete-game win against OCU. Roberts went the distance by giving up a pair of runs on five hits; she fanned three.
 
Roberts now has a 1.30 ERA on the spring in four total appearances and 27 innings logged. She is 3-0 with three complete game efforts and 15 strikeouts.
