2.26.18

INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca sophomore guard Devin Whitfield (Lipscomb, AL/McAdory HS) was named the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week as the regular season ended over the weekend.

This is his second conference weekly honor of the season and third of his young career.

Whitfield ended his second season on a high note with a 37-point outburst against Ohio Valley as the Trojans toppled the century mark in the scoring column.

He was 12-of-17 from the field, including 6-of-7 from distance, to go with 10 rebounds for the double-double. Whitfield also dished out five assists and filled out the box score further with two blocks and two steals in 37 minutes.

Whitfield is now sitting at 907 points in his career in just two years and his 17.78 points per game average ranks second all-time to players with at least 50 contests played in.

Whitfield finishes 2017-18 second in the league in scoring at 20.5 points per game and fourth in field goal percentage (.498). He was also 12th in rebounding and sixth in the conference in assists.

Whitfield had four games with 30 points or more, including a season-high 38 against Ohio Valley in the teams’ first meeting back on Jan. 11.
