INDIANAPOLIS – Alderson Broaddus sophomore NCAA qualifier Gino Sita was announced as the new Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Tuesday morning.
The Battlers competed at the Petrofes Invitational in Mechanicsburg, Pa., with titles up for grabs at each weight class.

After qualifying for nationals and going 35-7 as a freshman, Sita is looking to claw his way back into the national rankings. After a strong showing at the Petrofes Invitational with bonus points galore, he’s on the right track.
Sita finished third in the 174-pound weight class and went 5-1 in the bracket. All five of his wins were by way of the technical fall as he dominated.
He scored the technical falls against three straight opponents before being edged out in the semifinals, 2-1. His tear continued in the wrestlebacks with two more technical falls for third overall.
Sita defeated Anakin Cox of Thaddeus Steven in the opening round with a 19-2 TF. In a 20-2 final, he did the same against Sal Puglisi of Gettysburg.
The quarterfinals went towards the sophomore with a strong 19-3 win. Dan Swarr of host Messiah was able to beat the Battler in the championship bracket. Sita finished strong with 16-1 and 18-1 tech falls.
Sita improved to 13-2 overall on the season with 10 of his victories on the mat by technical fall.
