INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay had a repeat selection for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors as announced on Monday afternoon.
The top of the conference standings is held down by Cedarville and the Yellow Jackets remain red hot on an eight-game win streak before their holiday trip in Florida.
Kentucky Wesleyan handed Walsh its first conference defeat of the season in a thrilling finish as Keelie Lamb hit a three in the final seconds to lift her team to an 82-81 win. The Panthers also beat Malone to climb up to second in the Great Midwest standings.
Findlay, Walsh and Lake Erie, are tied for third while Hillsdale and Alderson Broaddus are close behind. AB came away with a pair of impressive road victories vs. Ohio Valley and Ohio Dominican under first-year head coach Roy Boggess.
The Battlers are looking to establish themselves in the postseason hunt and have won three of their past four.
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week
Anna Hintz
Findlay
Forward
Senior
North Fairfield, OH (South Central HS)
Hintz continues to be a matchup nightmare for opponents down on the low block with a pair of 20/10 double-doubles contributing to Oilers’ victories in the conference schedule.
Her most recent body of work continues to make the senior forward a viable candidate for player of the year consideration.
Hintz averaged 22.5 points and 10 rebounds per game while shooting over 61 percent from the field. She also chipped in 1.5 steals per contest as Findlay beat Ursuline and Lake Erie at home in Croy Gymnasium.
Her range from the perimeter keeps opponents that much more off balance as she knocked down six three-point tries.
Hintz played 32 minutes in each win against Ursuline and Lake Erie while making a combined 16-of-26 shots from the floor. She had 21 points and 10 rebounds against the Arrows and produced 24 points and 10 boards vs. the Storm.
Hintz is now averaging 21.3 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this year through eight contests. She is very efficient with a 56 percent field goal clip and is knocking down shots from three at a 53.6 percent.
This is her second conference weekly honor of the season and third in her career. She was a first team all-conference selection in 2017-18 and made the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Hintz is currently the league leader in field goal percentage and rebounds.
