INDIANAPOLIS – The fifth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week announcement for the 2018-19 season was released on Monday afternoon. 
 
Three unbeatens emerged following the second full week of league play: Cedarville, Lake Erie and Walsh. 
 
Cedarville has put together a seven-game win streak after beating Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca by double-digits last week. The Yellow Jackets lone loss on the ledger was in the season opener against NCAA Championship finalist Ashland. 
 
The Storm rolled to 4-0 in the Great Midwest standings with a pair of road wins at Ohio Valley and Ohio Dominican. LEC has won four straight with a challenging week ahead at Hillsdale and Findlay, last year’s conference tourney finalists.
 
Beating Hillsdale and Findlay on the road last week was Walsh and the Cavaliers improved to 7-2 overall to contribute to the three-way first-place tie. Walsh features the league’s top-scoring offense (79.7 ppg) and is also the top rebounding program (in terms of margin) while being second in field goal percentage. 
 
Trevecca and Davis & Elkins each won their first conference games. Kentucky Wesleyan is 2-1 while four traditionally strong programs are in a tie at 2-2 (Hillsdale, Ursuline, Findlay, Ohio Dominican). 
 
Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week

With two torn ACL’s in two years, Wolford’s long road on the comeback trail through the rehabilitation process has been well documented. 
 
Her relentless pursuit towards getting back on the floor makes her early-season success that much more of an inspirational storyline as the Yellow Jackets have started with seven wins in eight games. 
 
The devastating injuries haven’t hampered her ability to be a deadly scorer (12.0 ppg as a sophomore) and a torrid two-game stretch suggests the best is still yet to come. 
 
It’s hard to tell if the sharpshooter is on a bit of a minutes restriction easing back into game action, but Wolford filled up the box score in limited time. 
 
Wolford averaged 21.5 points per game and was 14-of-21 from the field (66.7) with major contributions to Cedarville’s two conference wins vs. KWC and TNU. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and knocked down 7-of-9 tries from long distance. 
 
Wolford started and played 20 minutes against Trevecca, scoring 18 points on near-perfect 6-7 shooting. She hit all three tries from deep and drained all three free throw attempts while pulling down five rebounds.
 
Against KWC, Wolford filled it up again with 25 points in 27 minutes. She added six rebounds, six assists and also had a block and one steal. She was very efficient again with eight made field goals on 14 shots. 
 
Wolford has now led the Yellow Jackets in scoring for back-to-back games and is shooting over 52 percent on the season. She is averaging 11.8 points and has elevated those numbers in conference play at 15.3 ppg.
