INDIANAPOLIS - A few games scattered over the Thanksgiving holiday produced a new Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced on Monday morning.

Fresh off a new shiny ranking of No. 13 in the NABC Poll, the Oilers went out and took care of business against No. 14 Ferris State, last year’s defending Division II national champion.
 
Smith helped the Oilers go over the century mark on the scoreboard with a big regional victory as Charlie Ernst’s program improved to 4-0 on the season.
 
Smith, posted well-rounded numbers bidding for a triple-double against Ferris State with 15 points, eight assists and six rebounds. He also included a pair of steals.
 
The Oilers led by as many as 18 points while playing the Bulldogs at home in Croy Gymnasium. Findlay was the Great Midwest preseason coaches poll favorite and is now 32-5 overall as a member of the league.
 
Findlay was able to avenge a Sweet 16 loss at the hands of Ferris State to end the 2017-18 campaign in NCAA Championship Midwest Regional action.
 
Smith is one of four on the Oilers to average double-digit scoring (11.3 ppg). He is shooting over 46 percent from the field and over 42 percent from three-point territory. His 2.3 steals per contest are currently fourth in the league.
