WGCA / DII Coaches Poll

INDIANAPOLIS
– A dizzying league-leading team scoring average has Findlay’s program ranked eighth in the final Women’s Golf Coaches Association’s (WGCA) Poll to transition into the spring portion of the season.

The Oilers have torn up the record books since making their arrival into the Great Midwest, setting a conference record with a team scoring average of 308.51 in 2017-18.

UF has bettered that record pace this season at 298.70 through five events and 13 rounds in just the fall.

Findlay was previously ranked 11th in the WGCA Coaches Poll during the abbreviated fall season.

The Oilers won the Great Midwest Fall Invitational while matching the single-round conference team record with a 287. Three different players (Kristina Kniesly, Meredith Wipper, Samantha Hatter) have all carded a single-round conference record 67.

After coming off a 30th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, senior Makenzie Torres scoring champ and single-season Great Midwest record holder (75.39) is currently second in the conference this year.

UF features the top four league leaders in scoring average with Kniesly (74.46), Torres, Samantha Hatter (75.62) and Samantha Wipper (75.62), leading the charge.

The Oilers are aiming to defend their 2018 Great Midwest Championship trophy and will get the chance to repeat in Lexington, Ky., this spring on April 19-20 during the 54-hole tourney.
