INDIANAPOLIS – Tiffin junior 197-pounder Nick Mason was tabbed as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week as announced on Tuesday.
 
The 25th-ranked Dragons were one of a handful of Great Midwest schools competing at the Findlay Open including the host Oilers and 14th-ranked Lake Erie.

Mason is nationally ranked at 10th in the 197-pound weight class by Intermat and he put on a show while capturing a title at the Findlay Open.
 
The junior was as dominant as it gets, pinning three opponents on his road to the finals. He won by injury default 3:29 into the match in the semis before taking first place by forfeit over Notre Dame (OH).
 
Mason stuck UIndy’s Ty Scott in the first round in a time of 3:31. His second pin came a little bit quicker in round two in 2:17 over Midway’s Andrew Koonce.
 
His quarterfinal fall was even more impressive as he made fast work of Gannon’s Gehrig Hutchison in less than two minutes at 1:51.
