INDIANAPOLIS – Kentucky Wesleyan senior guard Shayla Wright was tabbed as the new Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced on Monday morning.

Wright and the rest of her teammates torched Ohio Christian for 119 points on the scoreboard in the Panthers’ lone game of the week.
Wright sizzled from the field in just 21 minutes, scoring 25 points on 8-of-11 shooting while draining seven three-point shots.
Wright also pulled in seven rebounds, handed out two assists and pocketed a pair of steals, all in a reserve role.
The 5-5 guard is averaging 11 points per game after KWC opened the season against nationally-ranked Drury and Truman State.
Wright is also shooting 50 percent from the field (10-20) and is now 9-of-17 from beyond the arc (52.9%). She is averaging 3.7 rebounds and one assist per contest.
