INDIANAPOLIS – Cedarville freshman guard Branden Maughmer was tabbed as the new Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week as announced on Monday morning.

At the Don Callan Classic hosted by CU, Maughmer was impressive from the field in two games for the Yellow Jackets as they played Campbellsville-Somerset and Shawnee State over the past week.
In the two-game sample size, Maughmer led all players in the Great Midwest in scoring while averaging 24.5 points per game.
He made 21 of his combined 27 shots from the field and was a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc. The first-year guard also averaged two assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Maughmer was near perfect against Campbellsville-Somerset, pouring in 19 points in just 21 minutes on the floor. He missed just one of his nine shot attempts and drilled all three of his attempts from three-point territory.
He shouldered a little more of the offensive load in a one-point defeat against Shawnee State, but the efficiency was still there with 30 points in 37 minutes. The Chilicothe, Ohio, product made 13 field goals and nailed all three of triples.
Maughmer and the Yellow Jackets currently have the league’s second-highest scoring offense while averaging almost 84 points per game. Maughmer is currently tied for 11th in points per game and second on the team in scoring.
His field goal percentage of .600 (27-of-45) currently is tied for sixth best in the league.
Maughmer and teammate Conner TenHove (31 vs. Truman State are the only two players in the conference with 30 points or more in a game this season so far.
