INDIANAPOLIS – Tiffin and Cedarville remain in the title chase for the regular as both programs earned Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week as announced Monday afternoon.

Over the weekend, Tiffin moved into first place of the Great Midwest standings with 24 points and an 8-2 record in league play.

Cedarville aided the Dragons positioning with an upset win over No. 6 Ohio Valley and the Yellow Jackets are just one point away from moving into a second-place tie with the Fighting Scots.

Forward

St. Catherine, Jamaica (Cincinnati State CC)

McKnight helped extend Tiffin’s win streak to four straight as the Dragons planted their flag in first place of the conference standings.

Tiffin was picked third in the preseason coaches poll and the program now finds itself in position to potentially host the conference tournament in its first year as a member institution.

The Dragons took down Alderson Broaddus and Davis & Elkins on the road by a combined 5-2 score and TU passed a tough test against two of the league’s historically premier programs.

McKnight contributed in the scoring column for both contests as he scored three goals on the week.

He scored both goals in Tiffin’s 2-1 win over D&E and delivered a goal against AB in a 3-1 victory for the Dragons. McKnight fired off 10 shots, five of which were on target, while playing 170 minutes on the field.

McKnight moved into a tie for third among conference leaders in points (18). He is also tied for second in goals scored (9) with Ohio Valley’s Juan Hoyos.

Defensive Player of the Week
Carter Selvius
Cedarville
Goalkeeper
Junior
Byron Center, MI (Grand Rapids South Christian HS)

Make it back-to-back weekly selections for the junior stopper, who went about business as normal and recorded two more clean sheets against Lake Erie and No. 6 Ohio Valley.

Selvius now have five shutouts on the season, including four consecutive, to put the Yellow Jackets near the top of the conference standings.

The Yellow Jackets battled to a scoreless double overtime draw against LEC where Selvius played all 110 minutes and made three saves.

Credit Cedarville for slowing down a high octane OVU offense as the defensive unit only allowed 11 shots fired against Selvius. He made three saves in a 1-0 Cedarville victory.
