Tiffin, Hillsdale Competing For Great Midwest Title as Nationally-Ranked Teams

INDIANAPOLIS – The collision course between undefeated Tiffin and nearly-unbeaten Hillsdale comes to a full head of steam with both teams still American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) top-25 programs going into Week 10.
 
The No. 15 Dragons (9-0, 6-0 G-MAC) and No. 25 Chargers (8-1, 7-0 G-MAC) will clash on Saturday at Frank “Muddy” Waters Stadium in Hillsdale for at least a share of the conference championship.
 
Three possible outcomes could happen directly from this weekend’s result: Hillsdale wins the championship outright, Tiffin clinches at least a share of the championship with a win or the result of the Week 11 matchup between Tiffin/Findlay could still clinch the title for Hillsdale.
 
Tiffin moved up two spots in the poll from Week 8 while Hillsdale remained idle rounding out the new poll.
 
The second set of NCAA Super Region 1 rankings and if the season were to end today, the Great Midwest would have two teams in the playoff field -- Tiffin and Hillsdale.
 
Of course, a lot can still happen in the final two weeks of the year. Hillsdale still has No. 14 UIndy in the regular-season finale and it won’t be a walk in the park for Tiffin despite being at home in Week 11 vs. 2017 NCAA qualifier Findlay.
 
The Super Region 1 rankings are still headed by Notre Dame (OH) at the top followed by New Haven and LIU Post of the NE-10. Tiffin comes in at No. 5 just behind No. 4 West Chester.
 
Kutztown is settled at No. 6 and Hillsdale follows at No. 7.
 
Ohio Dominican fell one spot despite earning a win over PSAC opponent East Stroudsburg in Week 9, but the Panthers are still in the mix at No. 9.
 
The top seven teams in the final regional rankings will make the NCAA Championship playoff bracket and the top seed earns a first-round bye. Fairmont State made its first appearance at No. 10 while one-loss Slippery Rock is at No. 8.
