INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference had two teams appear in the first NCAA Midwest Region men’s soccer rankings this week, with Ohio Valley in the top spot and Tiffin sitting in fifth.

The NCAA Midwest Region rankings selects the top teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest (G-MAC) for postseason competition.

With a record of 13-2-0 on the season, the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots have been dominant this season and are ranked No. 6 in the United Soccer Coaches national poll and the top spot in the Great Midwest standings. Led by third-year coach Luis Rincon, great offensive output from sophomores Juan Hoyos and Jorge Pradillos have been important to their success this season.

The Tiffin Dragons appear just four below OVU at No. 5. Tiffin is sitting at 10-4 on the year and holds the third position in the G-MAC standings, just behind Cedarville and OVU. The Dragons have been led by strong offensive play from junior Abdoul Magdid Sy who currently leads the conference in both points and goals.

Both teams have also clinched bids to the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship, which begins with quarterfinal play on Saturday, October 27th. The top two teams will receive a first-round bye in the six-team bracket.

Both Ohio Valley and Tiffin return to play Thursday, October 18, with the Fighting Scots taking on Findlay on the road and Tiffin hosting Davis & Elkins.
