INDIANAPOLIS
– It’s hard to believe there are only three weeks left in the regular season, but that’s exactly where the Great Midwest Athletic Conference football schedule is positioned going into Week 8.

Five more matchups will be on the gridiron around the league on Saturday, including a top-25 heavyweight showdown between No. 17 Tiffin and No. 25 Ohio Dominican.

Tiffin moved up six spots from the previous AFCA Top-25 Poll while Ohio Dominican returns to the national rankings after being ranked as high as No. 12 back in Week 2 after beating Ashland.

Fans will get the see the only two-time players of the week at their respective positions this season, Tiffin QB Nick Watson and Ohio Dominican LB Ross Thompson, match their talents on the field. Watson and his positional counterpart, Evan Ernst, are two of the best passers in the league with some strong TD to interception ratios put up this season.

Conference-leading Hillsdale can’t help but feel a little bit slighted after seeing ODU, a program the Chargers beat already, move up in the poll while the Chargers remained in the pool of schools receiving votes.

The Chargers (6-1, 5-0 G-MAC) have done nothing but win against opponents that they were arguably not favored against, including ODU and Findlay. HC puts its five-game win streak on the line this weekend against Walsh and a defensive unit that has been tough to score against as of late.

Hillsdale’s offense can strike quick or sustain long drives and Keith Otterbein’s program is still one PAT in OT away from a perfect season.

The Cavaliers (2-4, 2-2 G-MAC) pitched a Week 7 shutout against Lake Erie and wreaked all kinds of havoc in the backfield by applying pressure with a star-studded defensive front.

Findlay and Alderson Broaddus can score in a myriad of different ways and the Oilers/Battlers figure to put up some big offensive numbers in their game.

The Oilers (4-3, 2-2 G-MAC) were able to secure a Super Region 1 win against Charleston last week while the Battlers (2-5, 1-3 G-MAC) are looking to rebound after falling to Hillsdale.

AB’s Maurice Thomas is a special teams demon after the speedy 5-8 WR broke the single-season conference record for kickoff return TD’s. He now has three already in the year.

Kentucky Wesleyan and Lake Erie are both looking to break out of slumps when the Panthers (2-4, 1-3 G-MAC) host the Storm (0-7, 0-5 G-MAC) in Owensboro. Malone (1-5, 1-4 G-MAC) will play against Millersville for a Week 8 non-conference contest.
